Here is a list of some of my favorite things in Panama.  It’s a work in progress so please check back periodically for new entries.

La Granja Campo & Aventura in Colon

Why I Like It: Friendly guides run this operation that offers good, wholesome fun.  You can go zip lining, horseback riding, kayaking, on a farm tour and more.

Read my post about La Granja here.

Jungleland Panama

Why I Like It: Monkeys!  Enough said.

Rosa Mexicano

Why I Like It: This is the only international branch of the US chain featuring upscale Mexican cuisines.  The ambiance is hip, the margaritas are delicious and the guacamole is freshly made at the table.  When are we going?

Mercado de Abastos

Why I Like It: Even though this outdoor farmer’s market is kind of dirty, nothing beats it for selection and price of fresh produce.  If you usually buy your produce at Riba Smith you will be stunned with the prices here.

Power Club Howard

Why I Like It: The outdoor Olympic pool here is probably the nicest pool in all of Panama.  As of December 2012, few folks visit this branch of the Power Club which means you may have the pool all to yourself.

Why I Like It: This daily newsletter features events and activities happening in Casco Viejo that same day and the next.  It’s a great way to learn about the culture, food and nightlife the makes Casco a fun area to visit.

Why I Like It:  This is the closest thing Panama has to Yelp, which I love and used all of the time in San Francisco.  Restaurants are organized nicely and feature reviews.

Des Ubicadas

Why I Like It: A fresh, stylish women’s magazine that offers tips and tricks in negotiating life in Panama.  As their Spanish to English translator, I am biased.  But it’s still a great resource on how to navigate life in Panama.

El Visitante

Why I Like It: This print and online newspaper features articles in both Spanish and English.  Geared towards visitors, it is a great news and event information resource for Panama City.

Tantalo Hotel Rooftop Bar

Why I Like It: It’s hip, beautiful and attracts a fun, young crowd.  I love to attend parties here; I feel like I’m on top of the world.
